Alison Shea

Alison Shea joined St. Thomas Law in 2024 as a Research Librarian. Before coming to St. Thomas, she served as Research & Instructional Librarian (Foreign, Comparative & International Law) & Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School (2020-2023) and the Public Services Librarian for the Nestlé Library at the Cornell Nolan School of Hotel Administration (2018-2020). Prior to Cornell, she was the Head of Reference/Foreign & International Specialist & Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham Law School.

Alison enjoys providing research assistance and instruction in all areas of the law, but her specialties include the European Union, British and Irish law, arbitration, and international economic law. She has been involved with various library associations including the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL), the International Association of Law Librarians (IALL), and International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA). Alison is a former Chair of AALL’s Foreign, Comparative, and International Law Special Interest Section, and has coordinated, moderated, and spoken at a number of professional librarian association conferences over the past 15 years.

Alison graduated with a B.A. from Boston University (2004), and a joint J.D./M.S.L.S. from The Catholic University of America (2007).
