Mr. Wheaton is a privacy attorney who focuses on international data protection regulation, information security, and data governance matters.
In his role, Mr. Wheaton regularly advises and represents his clients on complex and evolving laws and regulations that govern data transmitted and stored on computers, including consumer protection laws, data protection regulations, privacy laws, cross-border transfers, and e-discovery issues. He has worked for several startup technology companies in the Twin Cities prior to joining LivaNova in the medical field as they move to build internet connectivity into medical devices.
Mr. Wheaton graduated from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. He holds a BA from the University of St. Thomas in Quantitative Methods and Computer Science (QMCS) and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in both US (CIPP/US) and EU (CIPP/E) law. He serves as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law teaching Privacy & Data Protection and the Mentor Externship.
